Almeley Primary and Little Elms Nursery

Welcome from the Head Teacher & Chair of Governors

A message from the Acting Headteacher, Mrs Jo Keeble.

On behalf of the pupils, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you to Almeley Primary School and Little Elms Nursery. I hope you find our website easy to navigate and informative. It is designed to give you a flavour of our vibrant school and the quality of education we strive to deliver.

Our school and nursery is set in the heart of our small rural community since the 1850s. It overlooks the magnificent farmland with a view towards Hay bluff and the Black Mountains. To the rear of the school is Spearmarsh Common. It sits in the beautiful countryside of the county of Herefordshire and is close to the historic town of Kington and the city of Hereford.

Visitors to our school comment on our stimulating environment and inclusive, caring and family ethos. They describe the atmosphere as a hive of activity, nurturing and friendly. We care about the individual pupils and pride ourselves on a school community where everyone feels valued and heard.

With such hardworking, well-behaved and happy children, the continued support of families, the local community, the governing body and the thorough commitment and dedication of the staff, our school strives to achieve our mission:

“Inspiring Children to Become Independent and Responsible Thinkers since the 1850s”

If you would like to know more about our school, please come and visit us, both the children and staff look forward to welcoming you.

Jo Keeble

Acting Chair of Governors
Welcome

A warm welcome to all pupils, parents and carers
from the Governors of Almeley Primary School and Little Elms Nursery.

As Governors, we work as a team with the Headteacher and all school staff to ensure the safety, welfare and education of all our children. Our aim is to support school in delivering the best possible enriched education and outcomes for our children during their time with us. At Almeley, we believe in inspiring children to become independent and responsible thinkers. We achieve this through our school values which include kindness, patience, honesty, resilience as well as responsibility, respect, integrity, tolerance and co-operation.

The Governors are involved with our school at every level, working in the best interests of the school and all our children. This includes safeguarding, finance, buildings management and staffing. Governors are elected to ensure that school objectives are clearly defined and met, working alongside staff to shape the strategic vision and ethos of the school; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the school; and hold the school to account for the standards achieved and the quality of education.

At Almeley Primary School and Little Elms Nursery, we are proud of the achievements of all our children across the curriculum and of the high standards maintained in both their learning and behaviour. We believe that this reflects the quality of our dedicated teaching and support staff.
